Turn Marnie Into A Disney Adult: Phase I

So as you know, my boyfriend planned a very special trip for me and I tried my absolute hardest to spoil it. Just kidding - kinda… Apart from the first 3 days of the trip, we managed to have a great time and I just have to brag a little of all the things we did so here is a breakdown of my 9 day vacation to Orlando, which to my surprise, is not as shitty as I thought ;)

Day 1: JFK - MCO, Hard Rock, 5 de Mayo

  • We flew at like the same time and landed in Orlando within an hour of each other and had margaritas in honor of my bday and 5 de Mayo

  • Checked into the beautiful Hard Rock and spent the afternoon drinking by the pool

  • Had dinner at Margaritaville in the little pavilion thing where Universal Studios is

Day 2: Universal Studios

  • Went into Harry Potter World at universal studios and spent the afternoon by the pool

  • Had dinner again in the same area — I can’t remember the name of the restaurant though

  • Went to see Dr. Strange — It was incredible!!!

Day 3: Universal Studios

  • The group went back to universal and I spent the day by the pool getting roasted and drunk

  • Again had dinner in the same little area — can’t remember the name of the restaurant — but we walked around and did some shopping

Day 4: My birthday — Disney’s Magic Kingdom

  • Woke up and checked out of the Hard Rock and checked into Disney’s The Polynesian

  • Had brunch with incredible margaritas at the Animal Kingdom Lodge

  • Spent the afternoon drinking with my bf at the pool

  • Took a boat to from the resort to the park and had dinner in a castle. Saw the iconic fireworks and light show over Cinderella’s castle

Day 5: Magic Kingdom, Epcot

  • We went back to Magic Kingdom and walked around, rode a few rides which were much more manageable than Universal Studios

  • Spent the afternoon at the resort’s second pool which was smaller and more secluded and had virtually no kids at all

  • Had dinner at Epcot (i think) — had way too many drinks during the pool day so I don’t remember a ton of it. We had dinner at this beautiful French restaurant

Day 6: Riviera, Epcot, Disney Springs

  • Switched resorts from the Polynesian and checked into the most beautiful resort I’ve ever been to in my life: Disney’s Riviera Resort — it was immaculate

  • Spent the afternoon by the pool and this pool was so quiet and chill and there were no kids — huge win!

  • Went to Epcot for a little bit and munched on some snacks around the world. Got my ears in “Mexico” along with a margarita with my favorite tequila: Casa Dragones

  • On this night, we went to Disney Springs for some shopping and dinner. My bf and I walked around and went through a lot of stores and then had dinner at Frontera? We were supposed to eat at Morimoto’s restaurant (my fave iron chef ever) but there was an event so our reservation got moved to the next night

Day 7: Animal Kingdom

  • We woke up mad early on this day to get on a few rides at Animal Kingdom and they were pretty fun actually. Very low key — I guess because we are resort guests we get access to early entry to the park so that was nice because this minimized the wait time in the lines

  • We got on one of my favorite rides: Avatar. Loved it so much that I rode it twice. Then we went on the safari and got to see some animals

  • Went to the pool and hung out before dinner and shopping at Disney Springs. We had our Morimoto reservation kind of late on this day but I was so excited because I had no idea he had a restaurant there and I haven’t been to the one in NYC but I’ve been dying to try his restaurant. The food was AMAZING and our waiter was so cute and sweet and funny — shout out Stephen <3

Day 8: Hollywood Studios

  • I got two words for you: Star Wars!!!! I am a new star wars fan, having finished the last three films after this trip, but I still loved all the rides. They really committed to the theme on these rides and it was truly incredible and an amazing experience. I somehow got to ride their newest ride twice — I loved it

  • We got to explore toy story world here too and then went back to the resort to chill by the pool. We had a quick turnaround because we had appointments to make custom lightsabers and that was incredible. We were running late because I lost my wallet on this day and so we had to literally sprint through the park and I was in a long dress and sneakers and I think that’s the first time my bf has ever seen me run — he was so impressed hahhahahah honestly, so was I

  • Lightsabers were cool as fuck, I’m not even gonna lie — you can check mine out on my tiktok

  • On this night we had dinner at this shitty latin restaurant but we were just so hungry and tired that by the time we got our food we were just ready to go. I think the restaurant was called Sebastian’s? Like from the little mermaid — 11/10 do not recommend you to go there

Day 9: Eat & Drink around the world @ EPCOT

  • We switched resorts one last time for the last night and we checked into Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club. Absolutely Stunning.

  • We then went to have lunch at EPCOT. I think EPCOT is my favorite park because I love food and drinks and this is where I got my ears earlier in the week

  • We came back and hung out by the pool and this time I got to spend some time alone with my bf in the sun and pool and it was one of my favorite moments. Our other friend came to join us later and she is always making us laugh

  • We went to dinner at EPCOT again because the Yacht Club is literally walking distance from there and we wanted to ride Ratatouille — however, when we were in the seats and strapped in ready to go, they pulled everyone off the ride and shut down the ride. Later when we tried to get on it after dinner, it got closed AGAIN just as we were going to get in line

  • We had dinner in “England” and had incredible fish and chips. Then it rained and we went back to the room. My bf and one of our friends went to the bar there and then to a dessert spot but me and our other friend were exhausted and stayed in

I’m literally sitting here in awe after reading/writing this post. I had the change to experience such incredible things with people I really care about. This trip means more to me than anyone knows and even though I had the absolute worst attitude an expectations, I’m so happy I was proven wrong. One of the days, one of our friends was talking to me and he told me that if I wanted any sort of future with my bf, I was going to have to get onboard with the Disney stuff. It’s a very small price to pay in order to be with someone as special as him and despite my judgements, Disney is actually very cool and impressive. Am I Disney adult just yet? No, but I’m sure that will come….sooner rather than later.
